Transformations: Poems in Translation with Tamar Yoseloff and Sue Rose
IN THIS RESIDENTIAL COURSE we will examine how the art of translating poetry can inform our own craft and enrich the poems we write in our own language. We’ll be looking at what happens when a poem in one language is recast in another and the conclusions drawn will be used as points of departure for our own work. For booking and more information: http://www.chateaulifecourses.com/transformations-poems-translation-tamar-yoseloff-sue-rose/

Secret Landscapes: Orford Ness
A residential poetry course at Mendham Mill, October 19-21, 2012

This residential poetry workshop, at Mendham Mill, is centred around a visit to Orford Ness, one of the most mysterious and haunting places in Britain. Once the site of the earliest experiments in long-range radio navigation, it was then owned by the MoD, who used it for miltary testing (particularly of atomic weapons) during both world wars and through the Cold War. It is now an important nature reserve owned by the National Trust, and more recently, has been as inspiration to writers such as WG Sebald, Christopher Wood and Robert MacFarlane, and artists such as Jane and Louise Wilson. We will explore its strange history and atmosphere as a basis for new poems.
